Why we built Next Horizon Leadership.

The people decision is the company decision, yet the leader who makes it is served by an industry of silos. A note on the firm we set out to build, and the one system behind it.

An executive team reviewing a connected leadership and talent intelligence system

At the top of the people function, the decisions are consequential and there are very few places to think them through honestly. The chief people officer carries questions no one else in the building can carry: succession, culture, and the cost of getting a leadership decision wrong. I have spent 25 years alongside those leaders, and I kept noticing the same thing: the people making the most consequential decisions were often forced to stitch the right support together themselves.

Because the market is a set of silos. A search firm fills the seat and hands you off to a junior associate. A consultancy redraws the org chart. A peer network trades notes over dinner. An AI vendor sells you a platform and a year-long contract. Each solves one layer. None of them owns the decision. So the leader stitches the pieces together themselves, usually in the middle of the exact transition where they have the least time to do it.

Talent search alone can fill a seat. Consulting alone can redraw the model. Community alone can offer perspective. The decision needs all of it, connected.

Next Horizon Leadership was founded on a simple conviction: leaders do their best work with trusted direct peers, the right leaders are almost never found through a job post, and knowing the market should be always-on rather than commissioned in a panic. So instead of picking one silo, we connected them, and put one accountable partner across it.

One connected system, not four vendors

What we built runs on the same rails, so what one part learns, the others use:

01
Find or build the right leaders.

Operator-led retained search and leadership advice for the people function: the right external leader, found and set up to thrive, or the right leaders developed from within.

02
Know the markets.

NHL Intelligence, powered by Findem, gives leaders an always-on view of who exists, where they are, and why they might move.

03
Curated Communities.

A confidential, application-based network of sitting CHROs and CPOs: peer signal, off-the-record counsel, and warm introductions.

04
Prepare the organization.

Leadership advisory, organization design, coaching, and succession work so the organization is ready for what comes next.

Put together, they form a single loop: find or build the right leaders, prepare the organization, know the markets, and learn peer to peer. It serves the executive thinking about their next career move and the company trying to attract and develop its next leader.

What it is not

It is not a marketplace of logos selling to you. It is not slate-and-pray. It is not a newsletter, and it is not another platform you have to operate yourself. It is a peer community that changes the decision, and a partner who is accountable from the first conversation through the first quarter.

When we shared this idea, the response told us we were not the only ones who felt the gap. That is the firm we set out to build: for the leaders who shape the people decision, and through it, the company. If that is the seat you sit in, or the one you are trying to fill, this is the community built for it.

Start the conversation

A search to run, a community to join, or a partnership to build: the first step is a quiet introduction. Membership is by application; eligibility is confidential.
